Martinci grew out of our founder Utku Tamer Göktaş’s journey: from his first lines of code on game servers, to web projects in three countries, to an ordinary but expensive problem he solved at a container line.

Our story9 chapters

Real opportunities are often hidden inside the most ordinary and most tedious everyday problems.

01Beginnings

Discipline born from a hobby

The story began in our founder Utku Tamer Göktaş’s childhood, when he set up and ran game servers. A hobby that started with a love of computer games, a knack for leadership and a curiosity for running communities soon became a source of income.

As his servers grew, Göktaş learned web design, software development, digital marketing and social media management in the field, with real users.

  • Community management

02Agency years

Learning every discipline

A path that began with social media management in high school led him to a digital media agency. Working in almost every area, from post-production and visual effects to digital marketing and illustration, Göktaş got to know the craft of production inside out.

  • Visual effects
  • Digital marketing
  • Illustration

03Into logistics

From one website to twenty logistics companies

One of the agency’s first major projects was the website for Forward Global Lojistik. Its success opened the door to new web projects for around twenty logistics companies in Türkiye and brought Göktaş right into the heart of the industry.

  • Forward Global Lojistik
  • ~20 logistics companies

04Global experience

From California to Malta

After the agency closed, Göktaş joined a new digital media agency founded in California, building web solutions for two universities, a language school with five branches and many local businesses.

He then provided software services to local businesses in Malta. Getting to know the business culture of different markets first-hand laid the foundation for what Martinci today calls “global experience, local touch”.

  • Malta

05Trade and logistics

Speaking technology in the language of business

Having studied industrial automation systems in high school and interned on Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality’s metro projects, Göktaş completed a degree in International Trade and Logistics at Istanbul Kent University, combining his technical knowledge with the language of business.

06Turning point

A day’s work, a half-day fix

In his final year at university, Göktaş started working in import and export sales support at the Turkish agency of a global container line, where he spotted a major gap in digital transformation.

Freight rate lists were emailed one by one, twice a month, to some three hundred forwarders and all their contacts, and each round took up a full working day. A simple but effective application Göktaş built in PHP in half a day eliminated that loss completely.

  • ~300 forwarders
  • Twice a month
  • 1 working day → 0

07Martinci is born

The fix became a product, the product a company

Some time after Göktaş left, the company looked for an equivalent application on the market but couldn’t find anything as effective. That was the turning point: Utku Tamer Göktaş turned the bulk email system into a SaaS product and founded Martinci.

Martinci’s first proposal went to the very company where the problem was born. It was accepted, and the first four licences were sold.

  • First product: TopluMail
  • First customer: 4 licences

08Growth

To market with KOSGEB support

After the first sale, our founder received a KOSGEB grant under Türkiye’s young entrepreneur support programme. With it, Martinci developed its product, expanded its services and opened up to the market.
